About This Policy

2278 is designed to help football fans follow live scores, match schedules, league standings, and tactical tips all in one place. This Privacy Policy explains, in plain language, what information the App handles when you use it — and what it doesn't. It covers both the 2278 mobile application ("the App") and its companion website at schedule2278.com. We've tried to keep it short and clear, so you know exactly what's going on behind the scenes while you're checking the score. By using the App, you're agreeing to the practices described below.

2278 ("we," "us," or "our") is the developer of the App and the party responsible for the practices described here.

We Collect Only What We Need

The App is a football tracker, not a data-harvesting operation. We don't ask for your name, we don't read your contacts, and we don't peek at your location. Here's the short list of what actually gets collected when you use the App.

When you open the App for the very first time, it generates a random anonymous identifier and stores it on your device. Think of it as a made-up nickname your phone gives itself — it isn't tied to you personally and it helps us tell one installation apart from another for basic usage understanding. It stays on your device until you clear the App's data or uninstall, at which point a fresh one is created next time you open the App. The App also reads your device's language and region setting so the content is shown in a language you can understand.

Because the App is supported by advertising attribution, it also collects your device's Google Advertising ID along with the source you came from (for example, whether you found the App organically or through a specific marketing campaign) and the name of that campaign. This information is used to help us understand how people discover 2278, which is how we know our marketing efforts are actually reaching the right audience. We work with AppsFlyer, a mobile attribution provider, to process this information — their privacy practices are described in their own privacy policy. Alongside the data above, AppsFlyer collects standard device details (such as IP address, device model, and operating system version) as part of its normal operation. If you'd rather not participate, you can reset your Google Advertising ID or opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your Android settings under Settings → Google → Ads.

Everything else the App keeps — your starred matches, followed teams and leagues, your notification preferences, and cached match data for quick loading — lives only on your device. We don't upload your favorites or your browsing history to any server. If you ever want to start fresh, clearing the App's data through Android's system settings wipes all of it in one go.

We Include a Built-in Browser for Support Pages

The App includes a built-in browser used to show you the Privacy Policy and the Support page without kicking you out of the App. It behaves like any standard browser, so the websites you open in it may set cookies (including third-party cookies) and use local storage — that's just how the web works. The built-in browser doesn't collect any data on its own beyond what's already described above, and any site you visit through it is governed by that site's own privacy practices. Clearing the App's data in your Android settings also clears the in-app browser's cookies and stored data.

Match Reminders Stay on Your Device

If you star matches as favorites and enable reminders in Settings, the App can schedule a local reminder on your device 30 minutes before kickoff so you don't miss the start. These reminders are created and shown entirely by your phone — they don't involve a server, they don't send a token to anyone, and the App is not pushing notifications to you over the internet. Android 13 and newer ask your permission before showing notifications; you can grant or revoke that permission at any time in your system settings, and you can also turn match reminders off from within the App.

Our Website Has a Contact Form

Our companion website includes a Support page with a contact form you can use if you have a question, want to share feedback, or need to report a bug. When you reach it from the App, it opens inside the built-in browser described earlier. The form is entirely optional — nothing is sent until you choose to submit it. If you do fill it in, you can include your name and email address so we can reply, a subject that describes what your message is about, a message describing your question or issue, and optionally an attachment. The attachment can be a screenshot, image, PDF, or a document file (Word or plain text) — you can either take a photo with your device's camera or pick an existing file through your device's standard file picker. The App itself never touches your camera directly; your phone's built-in camera app handles that part, with its own permissions. We use anything you submit solely to respond to you and to resolve the issue you reported.

A Note on Connection Security

Most of the App's network traffic travels over standard encrypted HTTPS connections. A small number of connections may use unencrypted HTTP, which means that traffic is not encrypted in transit and could in theory be observed on an unsecured network. We do not transmit personal or sensitive information over those connections. We apply reasonable safeguards to protect the information we handle, but — like any internet service — no transmission or storage can be guaranteed 100% secure.

We Share With Few, and Only For Good Reason

We don't sell your personal information to anybody — full stop. The only third party we share data with is AppsFlyer, and we only share the attribution-related information described above for the purposes of understanding where our users come from. We may also share anonymized, aggregated statistics that don't identify any individual user. And we may disclose information if the law requires it or if we need to protect our legal rights — a boring but standard caveat that most apps include for good reason.

You Stay in Control

You have real, practical ways to control your data without needing to email us first. Clearing the App's data through your Android settings wipes your anonymous identifier, your favorites, your cached matches, your in-app browser cookies, and everything else stored locally; next time you open the App you'll start fresh. Resetting or deleting your Google Advertising ID in Settings → Google → Ads removes the ad identifier, and the same screen lets you opt out of personalized advertising entirely. Revoking notification permission in system settings stops match reminders from appearing. And, of course, uninstalling the App removes everything from your device at once.

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold. You can reach us using the contact details at the bottom of this page if you'd like to exercise those rights.

Children's Privacy

The App isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, please get in touch and we'll take care of it right away.

Policy Updates

From time to time we may update this Privacy Policy — for example, if the App gains a new feature that affects data handling. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the App after an update means you accept the revised policy, so please check back now and then.
